This Tunisian family turned their home into a living museum

Dar El Annabi in Sidi Bou Said, Tunis, oozes with opulence. Built at the end of the 18^th century, it was the summer residence of the Taieb El Annabi, the son of his Excellency the Mufu, Mohammed El Annabi. The family’s history refers to him as a man of religion and law. A walk around the house shows that he was a man of significant means and influence. Today, the house is a living museum that weaves the family’s history with that of Tunisia through Arabic and Islamic influences. It shows the family’s legacy, and how each generation of the Annabi made its mark - mostly in Law and Medicine. The house also has a collection of art, manuscripts, family photos and even music cassettes.
